Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made significant strides in various fields, including content creation, website building, customer support, and now, art. Midjourney is a prime example of this advancement. It’s an AI-powered art generator, akin to OpenAI’s DALL·E, that transforms textual prompts into realistic art pieces.

Midjourney is currently in beta mode and is accessible to the public. It’s user-friendly and doesn’t require any specialized knowledge in art or computer science. The platform is integrated with Discord, a popular social platform for voice, video, and text communication, which serves as the interface for interacting with the AI.

To use Midjourney, you need to have a Discord account. Once you’ve created an account and joined the Midjourney Discord server, you can use the “/imagine” command to instruct the AI to generate art. Each user is given 25 trials to experiment with the AI. After exhausting these trials, users need to subscribe to a full membership to continue using the service.

The full membership of Midjourney AI offers unlimited generations, access to a cheap tier with limited generations, and generous terms for commercial use. However, users must adhere to the platform’s code of conduct, which includes a list of banned words. Failure to comply can result in a ban.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use Midjourney AI for free:

  1. Create a Discord Account: If you don’t already have one, visit the Discord website to create an account. You’ll need to provide your date of birth, email address, and choose a username.
  2. Join the Midjourney Discord Server: Visit the Midjourney website and click “Join beta”. Once you’ve joined, select the “#newbies” channel from the left sidebar. This is where users can interact with the Midjourney AI.
  3. Use the “/imagine” Prompt to Activate Workings: In the “#newbies” channel, type “/imagine”, followed by a space, and then your description. The more specific and detailed your description, the better the AI can generate your desired art.
  4. Wait for Midjourney to Create the Art: After inputting your command, the AI will generate the art within 60 seconds. You’ll receive four images, which you can upscale for a high-quality single image or change variations using the “U” and “V” options respectively.

Remember, each user only has 25 trials, including the upscale and variation commands. After this, you can download the AI-generated art and use it as you wish.

Midjourney AI is a powerful tool for generating art, with its potential only limited by your imagination. If you’re interested in AI-generated art, you might also want to check out DALL.E, Disco Diffusion, and Stable Diffusion.

Please note that while Midjourney AI is free to use, there is a limit of 25 trials. After the free trial, you need to subscribe to a full membership. The membership includes three plans: Basic, Standard, and Pro, priced at $10, $30, and $60 per month, respectively.
